I translated the vision of this story — using ballet to explain why our brains love to look at art — by “casting” and filming heads against a green screen. Dani Player brought that concept to life by combining the silhouettes with animations, which integrated seamlessly into the page. We also filmed ballet dancers in a studio in slow motion, to break down the relationship between our brains and their movements.
Glenstone is an art museum situated on a peaceful campus outside of Washington, D.C. The Post’s art critic, Sebastian Smee, wrote the story on the expansion. Each part of the museum’s grounds was meticulously thought out, from the gravel in the parking lot to the views from the winding paths. I selected which parts to film and how to incorporate them into the larger story. I filmed the drone footage on the museum grounds.
